Final Curtain Call

Here's just a quick over view of the events brief from the beginning-

On reflection there were many things that we could have done differently, but the night turned out just dandy.

Show Time

Rafi & I, half of our photo shoot group

So it finally happened, last night was THE night of the exhibition opening and it was quite the success. The room buzzed with chatter and swapped comments on the photography displayed and the yummy mini cupcakes supplied!
A few of our class mates made a speech, giving a break down of our course, our project and of course the exhibition and thanked people for coming.
The exhibition started from 630pm and ran on until around 8pm.

This lady covered the event if you'd like to see her comments, follow the link-

Update

I seem to be neglecting my personal blog and this blog not on a conscious level though!

Right so the past couple of weeks have consisted of event planning, more specifically for myself the writing of the press release in which has been sent to press and invitees of the event.

The event is tonight and it's very exciting!
It's been a bit of a mad rush with some things but fingers crossed it all pulls together in the end.

Presentation

On the 20th each group gave a short presentation on ideas they'd come up with, we were the last group to go and really in hind sight we should have gone first. As we're the design team everyone else has to fit in with our idea (if they all liked it anyway!) and glamour/glittery combined with our Maps/treasure hunt concept didn't really fit!

It went well though and was useful to see what other teams had come up with.
Stay tuned for more...

Todays events consist of...

Today was quite good, as the promotion team in this set up we have a fair amount of weight on our shoulders Eg we must decide and follow through with;

A theme
A name
Design for - Poster, Flyers, Ebursts, press releases, indoor promotion etc
Make a guest list
Write all content

Just to name a few, so within the group we've now split ourselves into two - a design team and a writing team. I'm in the writing team so we'll be handling the guest list, social media activity and written content for everything getting sent out - no pressure.

Next week we'll be presenting to the rest of our class our ideas and concepts, fingers crossed they like what they hear!

Team Work

The PAD Gallery
The Forum

So in todays lecture we were looking into locations, a couple of the suggested location are above.
Currently the PAD Gallery is closed, but as it's ran by the council they might be quite interested in working with us in this case! The coverage would be good to potentially get sponsers for the gallery too.

I was also thinking, theres an old mexican which is now shut near Tescos express and Warehouse, which might be a good space with nice big windows, but may have to look at it a bit more. Also what if we were to use the Atrium - it's university property, we have a kitchen we can use too. High ceilings, lots of lighting and we wont have to worry so much about leaving our work up like we would in a bar or somewhere. It would also be good to pull in industry people and Big wigs from the uni to remind them how strong the arts really are?!

We're now divided as a class too into our teams, I'm in the promotion team so should be good!

New Brief

As fourth years everything is stepping up at least 3 or 4 notches, and one of the briefs we have to complete is to organise an exclusive exhibition for our work. Working as a team we'll find a fantastic location in Preston and cause a storm with our work and of course the exciting open evening!
Lets see how well this theory pans out...Stay tuned.
